Get subtitles from speech in video editor

If a video or audio file contains speech, Reports.re can convert that speech into text and generate subtitles in the video editor.

1. First, convert speech to text (Speech to Text) using the context menu of the audio or video file, or the context menu of the audio or video element in the video editor.

2. Once the conversion is complete, the text is saved to the audio or video file and is available in all copies of that file within the workspace. So, if the file is used in another project, the text and subtitles will also be available there.

3. Open the file in the video editor.

4. Click on the video clip — a menu for working with the video segment will appear to the left of the Play button.
In this menu, click the subtitle icon — the phrases will appear on the timeline above the video clip.

6. You can edit a phrase by double-clicking on it — the editing panel will open on the left. Or click the pencil icon next to the phrase in the list on the left panel.

7. You can move a phrase on the timeline by dragging it with the mouse, or set precise time markers in the left subtitle editing panel.

8. You can format all subtitles in the right-hand panel — for example, set bold, font size, color, background fill, and other effects.
